I'm glad you're here! I've never wrote a real blog before and by the end of this, you'll likely understand why I take photos and not write for a living. But I wanted to commit to at least one blog post on a quarterly basis (that's an ambitious start, even for me).
So for my first blog post, I wanted to share a little bit more about myself, so you can get to know me as more than the out of breath, constantly muttering 'wow', "why is she laying flat on the ground" photographer that you have hired or are looking to potentially hire.
Due to listening to far too many true crime podcasts and growing up watching Criminal Minds after school with my mom, I'm going to keep some of my more personal information vague or obsolete. I want you to feel comfortable with me, but I don't need some strange man on the internet getting ahold of my personal information and location and I somehow end up as the subject of one of the podcasts I listen to. I was there, twenty years ago, at the dawn of what we now know as social media on the internet. MySpace, Facebook, Nexopia, Chat Roulette - if you were there, you know and you helped paved the way of unsafe internet practices, just like I did. So just know, if you're reading this for any nefarious reason, I have a specific set of skills that I am not afraid to unleash.
Alright, so you've made it this far. Farther than I probably would have. Where to begin? As my title states, I am a thirty year old teenage senior citizen. As a child, I was called an 'old soul'. I would rather sit in my parents basement reading Twilight for the 8th time or watch Lord of the Rings for the 600th time than be out socializing with my peers. I was often the DD when I would go out (but don't think I didn't have my fun either at that age). I am the youngest of five children, so either my parents gave me far too much leeway after raising four other teenagers or maybe it was my 'old soul', or even had undiagnosed anxiety (most likely), but I wasn't often up to too much tomfoolery (or at least I think so).
Now for the teenage part. I turned thirty a few months ago and it's hard for me to grasp time as a concept. How have I been out of school for just as long as I was in it? How am I married and have been with my husband for over ten years? HOW DO I HAVE A TODDLER AND A CAREER AND MY OWN BUSINESS AND A HOUSE AND LAND AND COWS? If I were able to tell eighteen year old Morgan what her life would be like twelve years later, I think she would've laaaaaaughed and laaaaughed and laughed. Not that she would've thought this was an unattainable life, I just don't think she had much direction or much of a plan of what her life was going to look like. Thirty felt daunting though. Almost like the prime of my life was over. But I don't think it has even started. I spent a lot of my twenties looking for a purpose but coming into my thirties, I feel like I have so many of them and I'm ready to keep growing all aspects of my life, but at a pace that won't cause burn out. I'll have to remember to read this in ten years when I'm *checks notes* forty.
Are you still with me? That was a lot of rambling and I need to go make supper. So let's rapid fire my likes and dislikes:

I hope that if you were able to read all of this, you were able to learn a bit more about me. I'm not the photographer for everyone but hopefully can be the photographer for someone. I truly think that it's important to hire someone that a) you like their style but b) you can jive with them. And I'd love to be a jive turkey with you, if you'll have me.
Until next quarter,
Morgan
